That which we have no control over

As I stand at the precipice of a new chapter of OASIS's journey; I can't help but look back at all the challenges that presented themselves over the past 8 months.

It is so hard to form an equanimous perspective when life doesn't always roll out according to plan, and so, I like to draw upon the wise reminder from one of my favourite quotes:

"Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards"
- Soren Kierkegaard

Attachment and aversion leads to the suffering of mankind - without them we could be at ease with whatever may be. With them we inevitably form expectations, and therefore, open the possibility of disappointment.

But what if what didn't work out for you, really worked out for you?

My meditation, breath work and restorative yoga practice sharpens my skill to be with what is, as it is. While I may not always have the answers to why something happens, with patience the answers always reveal themselves to me - thankfully, I am present enough to catch wind of it and assimilate the wisdom bestowed.

I fly off tomorrow to spend a whole month teaching in Pure Shanghai, and right now I won't know how the crowd will take to the practice, or my approach to sharing it, but I do know that my life's purpose is brought to the forefront of my approach right now, as a gentle reminder as to why I practice, and why I teach.

I know this in itself, will give my trip meaning, and no matter what transpires, I will make space for grace, and let life unfold the way the universe has purposefully decided.
